Iroquois Gas Transmission Selects Energy Solutions to Supply Advanced Pipeline Applications

Energy Solutions International is proud to announce that Iroquois Gas Transmission has awarded Energy Solutions International a contract to supply simulation applications for their pipeline.

Following a rigorous evaluation process Iroquois selected Energy Solutions and its ESIPAS suite of simulation applications for their total pipeline modeling solution.

Applications to be delivered include: a real time transient model driven by field data through the SCADA system; a "look ahead" model that automatically predicts future operations based on current conditions; a predictive model for performing "what if?" analyses; and a training simulator for controller training.

ESIPAS (Energy Solutions International Pipeline Application System) is a field-proven pipeline simulation platform based on state-of-the-art modeling technology, which provides the perfect environment to implement applications related to optimization systems operations, facility planning, training and business support.

Iroquois Gas Transmission System, L.P., based in Shelton, Connecticut, is a partnership of ten U.S. and Canadian energy entities, and is owner of a 377-mile interstate natural gas pipeline extending from the U.S.-Canadian border at Waddington, N.Y. through western Connecticut to Long Island, N.Y.

Iroquois is currently engaged in a significant pipeline expansion project scheduled for completion later this year. This expansion will result in an increased supply of approximately 230 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to customers in and around New York City. In pursuing this expansion Iroquois recognized the need for improved technology to aid in pipeline operations. Specifically, Iroquois wanted to improve their ability to predict and respond to future operating conditions and business opportunities. Iroquois is a long-time user of transient pipeline models for planning and operations analysis.

The experience Iroquois has in the modeling area lead Iroquois to conclude that real time transient modeling was to key technology to achieving their requirements.
